MERN FullStack

M E R N is a collection of JavaScript-based technologies — MongoDB, ExpressJS, ReactJS, and NodeJS — used to develop web applications.

  • MongoDB is a non-relational database that allows flexibility, scalability, and performance for both structured and unstructured data.

  • ExpressJS is a minimal and flexible Node.js web application framework that provides a robust set of features for web and mobile applications. Express allows a level of abstraction that makes it simple to implement and create Node servers.

  • ReactJS allows developers to create large web-applications that use data and can change over time without reloading the page. It aims primarily to provide speed, simplicity, and scalability for development.

  • NodeJS runs on JavaScript, allowing developers to use the same language on the server and client, and even share some code between them such as form validation and encryption / decryption methods.

Open-Source Technologies

Open-Source Technologies is computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to change, and distribute the software to anyone for any purpose.

  • LESS is a dynamic style sheet language that can be compiled into Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and run on the client side or server side. LESS extends CSS with dynamic behavior such as variables, mix-in, operations and functions and affords more concise writing of style information and can reuse things like colors and styles more easily.

  • TypeScript is a language for application-scale JavaScript development and is a typed superset of JavaScript that is designed for development of large applications and compiles to JavaScript to work with any browser.

  • Webpack is an open-source JavaScript module bundler that takes modules with dependencies and generates static assets representing those modules. This allows web developers to use a modular approach for web application development purposes.

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software licensing and delivery model in which software is licensed on a subscription basis and is hosted in the cloud. It is sometimes referred to as on-demand software or a utility-based-solution.

SaaS is also a software distribution model in which a third-party provider hosts applications and makes them available to customers over the internet. SaaS is one of three main categories of cloud computing, alongside infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS).

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a low cost, reliable, and secure foundation to build and deliver Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions to customers. The AWS Partner Network (APN) helps companies build a successful AWS-based business by providing valuable business, technical, marketing, and go-to-market (GTM) support.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

Platform as a Service (PaaS) or application platform as a Service (aPaaS) is a category of cloud computing services that provides a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure typically associated with developing and launching an app

PaaS automates the configuration, deployment, and ongoing management of applications in the cloud. By automating such important but resource-consuming tasks, companies are able to accelerate innovation and agility while saving money.

The key distinguishing feature between an IaaS and a PaaS is the type of service offered.  In an IaaS customers typically work with virtual machines that they configure themselves; in a PaaS customers work with services created and maintained by the PaaS provider.  AWS has a mix of both.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a low cost, reliable and secure foundation to build and deliver both IaaS and PaaS solutions to customers. The AWS Partner Network (APN) helps companies build a successful AWS-based business by providing valuable business, technical, marketing, and go-to-market (GTM) support.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is a form of cloud computing that provides virtualized computing resources over the internet. IaaS is one of the three main categories of cloud computing services, alongside software as a service software as a service (SaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS).

IaaS refers to online services that provide high-level APIs used to dereference various low-level details of underlying network infrastructure such as physical computing resources, location, data partitioning, scaling, security, and backups.  IaaS containerization pools provide elasticity which offers the ability to scale services up and down according to customers' varying requirements.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a low cost, reliable and secure foundation to build and deliver Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions to customers. The AWS Partner Network (APN) helps companies build a successful AWS-based business by providing valuable business, technical, marketing, and go-to-market (GTM) support.

Network as a Service (NaaS)

Network as a service (NaaS) describes services for network transport connectivity. NaaS involves the optimization of resource allocations by considering network and computing resources as a unified whole.  NaaS is a cloud model, which provides network services over the internet on pay-per-use or subscription consumption models.

NaaS provides global enterprises a turnkey solution for securely connecting remote locations to their cloud network. NaaS delivers a lower-cost option for robust, seamless, global connectivity while providing fully-managed enterprise service quality.  With NaaS, a company gains unparalleled network flexibility. NaaS can also empower a global high availability (HA) strategy for automatic failover of network connections or data recovery to combat against outages.

The biggest advantage of NaaS is the complete control and flexibility that an organization can gain. Network administrators can exert total control on the allocation and provisioning of the bandwidth, and as the network now exists in a virtual world, there is endless flexibility for network capacity and scalability.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a low cost, reliable, and secure foundation to build and deliver NaaS solutions to customers. The AWS Partner Network (APN) helps companies build a successful AWS-based business by providing valuable business, technical, marketing, and go-to-market (GTM) support.

BlockChain

Blockchain is the world's leading software platform for digital assets.  It is an incorruptible digital ledger of transactions that can be programmed to record and secure virtually everything of value.

Information held on a blockchain exists as a shared — and continually reconciled — database. This is a way of using the network that has obvious benefits. The blockchain database isn’t stored in any single location, meaning the records it keeps are truly public and easily verifiable. No centralized version of this information exists for a hacker to corrupt. Hosted by millions of computers simultaneously, its data is accessible to anyone on the internet.

Today blockchain technologies are being deployed for many uses, its potential to revolutionize the healthcare industry is evident. Having an open blockchain for medical data can prove useful as most health care data is segregated among different database systems, and this crucial information is often scattered and inaccessible, which is can be dangerous in an industry where even a few extra seconds or minutes to obtain critical information could be the difference between life or death for a patient. By having systems built with blockchain for healthcare, any health care related data can be more easily accessible.

REST API

REST API stands for Representational State Transfer. (It is sometimes spelled ReST) It relies on a stateless, client-server, cacheable communications protocol, and in virtually all cases, the HTTP protocol is used. REST is an architecture style for designing network applications.

RESTful web services provide interoperability between computer systems on the internet. REST-compliant web services allow the requesting systems to access and manipulate textual representations of web resources by using a uniform and predefined set of state-less operations.

By using a state-less protocol and standard operations, REST systems deliver fast performance, reliability, and the ability to grow, by re-using components that can be managed and updated without affecting the system as a whole, even while it is running.

Machine Learning (ML)
Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Machine Learning (ML) is an application or subset of AI based around the idea of giving machines access to data and let the computer learn for themselves.  Artificial intelligence (AI) is a development of computer systems designed to perform tasks that usually require some level of human intelligence such as speech recognition, image recognition, decision-making, and language translations.

AI/ML algorithms use computational methods to “learn” directly from data without relying on a predetermined equation as a model. The algorithms adaptively improve their performance as the number of samples available for learning increases.

Weak AI, also known as Narrow AI, is an AI system that is designed and trained for a particular task. Virtual personal assistants, such as Apple's Siri, are a form of Weak AI.  Strong AI, also known as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), is an AI system with generalized human cognitive abilities so that when presented with an unfamiliar task, it has enough intelligence to find a solution.
